He will be suceeded by Dheeraj Hinduja who will take over as Executive Chairman with immediate effect.
After completing 14 years with the company, Vinod K. Dasari has decided to pursue his personal interests and seek new learning, the company said in a release.
Dheeraj G Hinduja, Chairman observed on behalf of the Board "I would like to place on record the contribution of Dasari in making Ashok Leyland a formidable force in the industry. He along with his leadership team steered the company to ensure significant all-round performance. We wish Dasari the very best in his future endeavors".
Citing personal reasons for his resignation, Dasari will continue in his position till 31 March 2019. “My decision to leave is purely personal as I wish to pursue my personal interests and continue my learning journey,” he said.
Dasari is widely credited for orchestrating the turnaround of Ashok Leyland after the company’s sales slipped through 2013 and 2014. He was at the helm of the Hinduja Group’s flagship firm as the MD since 2011, taking on the additional role of CEO in 2016. Under his stewardship, the company’s annual revenue grew 33% from Rs 19,993 crore in 2016 to Rs 26,525 crore in 2018
Vinod Dasari been the Managing Director of Ashok Leyland Limited since April 1, 2011 and promoted as Chief Executive Officer in April 01, 2016.
Dasari also served as the MD of Hinduja Automotive Limited. He was the Chief Operating Officer of Ashok Leyland Ltd. since April 6, 2005 and served as the Head of its manufacturing, strategic sourcing, and corporate quality engineering divisions.
The country’s second-largest commercial vehicle manufacturer reported a profit of Rs 460 crore for the quarter ended 30 September 2018 – a 37.5% improvement over the preceding year. Revenue increased by 25% to Rs 7608 crore.
Prior to Ashok Leyland, Dasari was positioned as Joint Managing Director of Cummins India Ltd. He joined Cummins in 2002.
He started his career with the General Electric Company in 1986.
